Burna Boy Is Out With His New Album ‘Twice As Tall’, Twitter Implodes

Burna Boy has on finally released a brand new body of work, “Twice As Tall“, a follow-up to his critically-acclaimed 2019 “African Giant” album.

The 15-track album features Senegalese artist, Youssou N’Dour, O.G, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, U.K. rapper Stormzy, Kenyan afro-pop band Sauti Sol among others. It also includes production from Diddy, his mother Bose OguluTimbalandMike Dean and the Afrobeats star himself.


Following Twice As Tall’s release, Burna Boy noted on Instagram it is “a journey through a bunch of emotions and energies at different points in time. It has now morphed into something bigger than me. It serves as a bridge for mankind to show that we’re all different but still very much the same.”

He also lauded those who played a part in the success of the project, saying he is grateful for the “unreal talents” that went into the production. “I’m grateful for the unreal talents that came together from ALL over the world to pull this off. Shout out to the OG @diddy for coming on board and sprinkling his own unique spice on this! I hope I’m able to spark something in you when you listen.” he added.

The song on the album takes stock of his accomplishments, vulnerabilities, and how he encourages ambition and perseverance against long odds. He also lashes out at racism, exploitation and widespread misconceptions about Africa.

According to The New York Times, the album hold echoes of Nigeria, South Africa, Jamaica and the United States. The momentum is crisp and nonstop as the songs draw on Zulu choir singing, electronic dance music, alt-R&B and the patterns of West African marimbas and Zimbabwean thumb pianos.
