Breaking into the limelight was never easy for Basketmouth, his first attempt as standup comedy did not go as planned as he was booed off the stage. After going back to his armory to look at what brand of comedy could sell, he came back in 1999 and began to establish himself.

He later met renowned comedian Ali Baba who invited him to Lagos to perform as opening acts for a few shows and as they say the rest is history.
Ali Baba proved to be a big influence in Basketmouth’s career as he also introduced him to Opa Williams, the producer of one of the most popular comedy shows in Nigeria, “A Nite Of A Thousand Laughs.”
