Celebrity Focus: Vector Tha Viper – The Ever Rising Lyricist On The Role

From the days of performing at the then, Emem Ema “Words and Pictures (WAPI)” in collaboration with the British Council that saw the rise of artistes such as Provabs, M.I amongst others, Vector tha Viper’s career has been on the steady rise. Now Vector may be having a stint with his former label but there is no slowing him down as he fiercely clinch his Headies’ Lyricist on the Role title.

Olanrewaju David Ogunmefun also known as Vector Tha Viper was born in Ogun State but grew up in Lagos. He has been pursuing his music career since he was in high school but his first step happened when he was in Saint Gregory’s college for his secondary education that he took his first major step forming a crew made up of Vector, Krystal & Blaze. The group however dissolved before he graduated from the University of Lagos in 2008.

Vector released his first official single “Kilode” featuring Emmsong for the album “State of surprise” in February 2010 haven been signed on to the YSG label. The album featured the likes of 2Face Idibia, General Pype, Chuddy K amongst others

Following the success of the album, he collaborated with 9ice for “Angeli.” This paved way for his sophomore album “The 2nd Coming,” Vector was still working on his promotion schemes shooting a video for his collaboration with Movado, the Jamaican international artiste who is under DJ Khaled&#39s We the Best Music Group when it was announced that he has left YSG Records.

This has not slowed him down a bit has he has continued making music collaborating with the former Lyricist on the Role – Modenine. His awards include Best Rap Act – NEA Awards 2012, Best Rap Single and Lyricist on the Role – Headies 2012, Best Afro Hip-Hop Video – NMVA 2012 amongst others.
