Court Awards Hulk Hogan $115 Million In Sex Tape Lawsuit Against Gawker

A jury has awarded ex-wrestler, Hulk Hogan the sum of $115 million in his legal case against Gawker Media over the leaked sex tape featuring him and his ex, Heather Clem recorded by her ex-husband, radio host Bubba “The Love Sponge” Clem.

Hogan (real name Tery Bollea) had sued the media company, founder Nick Denton and former editor, A,J. Daulerio for $100 million in 2012 when the tape came out, accusing them of invasion of privacy among others for posting the 1 minute, 41 seconds video.

The wrestling icon who cried on when the verdict was announced, was awarded $55 million for economic injuries and $60 million for emotional distress.

The jurors will reconvene next week to consider punitive damaged on top of the $115 million already awarded.

“Mr. Bollea is exceptionally happy. This is not only his victory today, but also anyone else who’s been victimized by tabloid journalism,” his lawyer David Houston said outside the courtroom.
