COVID-19: Nigeria Records Lowest Infections In Months With 79 New Cases

79 new cases of the novel Coronavirus has been confirmed in Nigeria, according to the country’s disease control agency.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday September 13, the agency noted that the new figure is the lowest in several months, bringing the infection toll in the country to 56,256.

Of the new cases, 30 were recorded in Lagos, 17 in Kaduna, seven in Ogun, five in Anambra, four in Kano, three in Katsina, the FCT and Akwa Ibom, two in Oyo and Rivers and one each in Delta, Plateau and Ondo.

According to Nigeria Center for Disease Control, 44,152 have recovered and been discharged from isolation centers, while 1,082 have died.

There are now more than 870,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus across the continent, with South Africa still holding the higest number with over 450,000 cases, followed by Egypt with over 90,000 cases and then Nigeria.
