Star Rising Initiative is set to launch the maiden edition of its talent hunt show in Lagos. The audition and selection of qualified candidates is scheduled to hold on the 22nd of November, 2014.
Speaking at the press conference, founder and initiator of the foundation, Mrs Kay Ovia, gave a short presentation about the initiative. “Our mission is to establish the Star Rising Centre and support the youth of Nigeria, as they walk the rough terrain of becoming responsible adults, in an age where nothing seems stable and change is only constant. To nurture, discover God’s given talents and provide counselling, well equipped modern library for the children to study”.
“It is a passion dealing with children. I learnt all this from my husband, Mr Jim Ovia, to give back to the society with the little I can give. I have sponsored so many children in the past, but decided to build a foundation by working with professionals in the industry. Selection process will be done from 25 secondary schools and non-governmental organisations in Lagos State”.
She explained that, “Mastermind is another part of the initiative to create academic and mental exercise for students of the Senior Secondary School bracket. Contestants will be quizzed on subjects such as Mathematics, English, General Knowledge, Current Global Affairs and the sciences. Mastermind maiden edition will hold next year”.
In the same vein, Board of trustee for Rising Star initiative, Mrs Ngozi Eze added that; “We are going to different places to discover people who have not had the opportunity to develop their talents; dance, music and everything entertainment. We hope to mentor them on what they want do; identify celebrities in the area and attach them to the celebrity to be mentored by that celebrity. We are here to ensure it is a long term project and keep it as long as we can.”

It is not all about travelling abroad before they can make it in life”.
