Desmond Elliot has reacted to the backlash that trailed his comments on youths and social media which he made during a plenary at the Lagos state House of Assembly last week.

In a viral video that captured the Surulere lawmaker’s submission on the Lagos unrest, he addressed the youths as children and opined that social media was used to fuel the carnage, and has since incurred the wrath of social media users.

Elliot who appeared in a Thursday interview with Arise TV got emotional, while recounting the level of destruction he witnessed after taking a tour of his constituency following the civil unrest.

Recall that hoodlums hijacked the #EndSARS protest on Wednesday, October 2, and carried out massive destruction, looting and razing businesses and public facilities in different parts of Lagos.

The actor also shared his experience after meeting with business owners who lost their properties to hoodlums as he explained his controversial speech. Before the interview, he also released an apology for his choice of words during the deliberation.

In a series of tweets on his handle, the 46-year-old said, having gotten suggestions and feedback from people, he realised he made a mistake by referring to youths as “Children.”
