Desmond Elliot Slammed After Describing His Political Career As A Product Of Godfatherism

Desmond Elliot Edo Elections OnoBello

Desmond Elliot was slammed Friday September 11 by some social media users following his outburst that Godwin Obaseki, the incumbent governor of Edo state, shouldn’t castigate godfatherism as he wouldn’t be in power without it.

The actor-turn-politician who contested and won the Surulere constituency in 2015, was reportedly speaking about his incursion into Nigeria’s political scene during a recent interview ahead of Edo Gubernatorial election.

Elliot had berated the governor for adopting “Edo no be Lagos” as his re-election mantra. He also described his own political career as being a product of godfatherism.

Speaking further, Elliot had also laughed off the context of Obaseki’s mantra that Edo won’t be like Lagos, claiming the latter shielded Edo from achieving the economic prosperity that Lagos has recorded.

However many Nigerians were not feeling Elliot’s comments as they took to Twitter to fire back by slamming him for seeing nothing wrong godfatherism and implying that Edo can be Lagos.

See few reactions below.
