#EndSARS: Hillary Clinton Tells President Buhari, Nigerian Army To Stop Killing Protesters
Former United States Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, has tackled President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian Army to “stop killing” #EndSARS protesters in the country.
Clinton made this known on Tuesday night shortly after soldiers invaded the Lekki toll gate area of Lagos state, shooting at unarmed and peaceful protesters.
The incident had generated an uproar, within and outside the country. Taking to Twitter, the ex-First Lady lent her voice in support of those who had condemned the action of the soldiers.
“I’m calling on @mbuhari and the @hqnigerianarmy to stop killing young #EndSARS protesters. #StopNigeriaGovernment,” she wrote.

The #EndSARS protesters have been demonstrating against police brutality and extrajudicial killings at the Lekki tollgate for over a week. Similar demonstrations have been staged in different parts of the state and the country.
Meanwhile, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered an investigation into Tuesday evening incident. The state commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, made this known in a statement after the attack.
The statement partly read, “There have been reports of shooting at the Lekki Toll Plaza, following the 24-hour curfew imposed on Lagos State to stop criminals who hid under the #EndSARS protests to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens.
“The State Government has ordered an investigation into the incident. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has advised the security agents not to arrest anyone on account of the curfew, which he urges residents to observe for the peaceful atmosphere we all cherish.”
