The protesters grounded vehicular traffic along the expressway to a halt at Lagos airport toll gate and also Kuje road and Airport road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In footages circulating on social media, the Abuja protesters identified different areas of convergence for Monday’s protest to be Unity Fountain, Airport road, AYA, Nyanya, Kuje and Mararaba.
Currently, the Kuje road leading to Shehu Musa Yar’Adua expressway has been blocked. The protesters also stormed the Murtala Muhammed International airport premises, leaving motorists stranded and commuters trekking to work.
As of 9:30 pm on Sunday, the protesters demanding an end to police brutality blocked the two entrances of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) head office in Abuja.
They vowed to prevent activities at the nation’s apex bank on Monday. Soldiers have been stationed at some of the locations of the planned protest in order to keep the escalations under control.
