We earlier reported that Ese Rite Oruru, the 14-year-old teenager kidnapped from her parents home in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state had been released to her parents. Ese’s abductor Yinusa Dahiru who she was married to, was picked up by the police.
Confirming his arrest, Force Public Relations Officer, Bisi Kolawole said the tricycle operator is now in police custody.
Making the disclosure at a press briefing held at the force headquarters in Abuja earlier today which had Ese’s mother, Mrs. Rose Oruru in attendance, the force PRO said the girl would undergo a comprehensive physical examination.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has ordered that a panel should be set up to find out why Ese’s rescue was delayed for more than five months.
Kolawole had confirmed during the briefing that Ese’s father, Charles had reported the matter to the police since August last year but noted that there were delays due to bureaucratic processes.
As of now, Ese and her mother have arrived Bayelsa state and are currently in the Police officers mess in Yenagoa where journalists have been denied entry.
