#FreeEse: Emir Sanusi Denies Involvement, Orders Sharia Commission To Return Ese To Parents


We reported earlier about a campaign #FreeEse launched on behalf of 14-year old Ese Oruru who was allegedly abducted in Opolo, Yenagoa and married off to a Muslim man, Yunusa a Kano indigene. Read here if you missed.

The teenager is believed to be living in the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II’s palace. However, fresh reports have it that the Emir today ordered the state Sharia Commission to liaise with office of the Assistant Inspector General of police, zone 1 to commence process of returning Ese to her parents.

Malam Sanusi distanced himself and the Kano emirate council from the alleged abduction of by suspected Yunusa.

Sanusi said “I have ordered the sharia commission to liaise with the office of Deputy Inspector General of police zone to repatriate and reconcile the teenager with her family immediately.”
