Adding another feather to her cap, Genevieve Nnaji has been chosen as an ambassador of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2020.
Nnaji has joined the list of 50 celebrated filmmakers and actors who are invited as the ambassadors of the TIFF. This is coming a month after The Oscars released its list of new members, with 819 invitees, that included the multiple award-winning actress.
The invitees include celebrated international names such as Indian-American actress Priyanka Chopra, American actors Brie Larson, Zachary Quinto and Olivia Wilde; Israeli-American actor Natalie Portman; British actor Carey Mulligan, Chinese actor Donnie Yen and many more.
The festival will start on September 10 and will go on till 19 2020. Maintaining the current trend, TIFF organizers have opted for digital and socially-distanced screenings, and virtual red carpets experience – for the first time in the fest’s 44-year-old history. Festival goers can expect numerous talks and special events hosted on the exclusive digital platform, the organizers stated.
Calling it “tailored to fit the moment,” Joana Vicente, executive director and co-head, TIFF, said in a statement, “We could never have anticipated the global seismic changes we would be facing in 2020. We tapped into the original spirit of the Festival from when it began in 1976 as our guiding light. The distilled edition of TIFF 2020 reflects a deep love of film, passion for our loyal audiences, commitment to the industry, and a whole lot of heart.”
This year the organisers are launching a digital platform for the festival. This will enable audiences beyond Toronto to connect with the festival. In collaboration with Shift72 the platform will host digital screenings and events for the 10 days, Dealine reported.
