On Friday, November 9, the Nigerian Idol train came down to Lagos for what could be called the ‘grand finale’ of Season 3 auditions after weeks of driving through the country auditioning singing talents .
Dream Studios, Bamako Estate, Omole, the venue of the Nigerian Idol auditions saw thousands of hopeful trooping in to try out for a shot at global fame from Friday, November 9 to Saturday, November 10.
Among the hopefuls was Oreoluwa Liyele who flew in from New Jersey just to make the Lagos audition.
“I watched the show last year in the States and I made up my mind that I must be here this year for the auditions,” she said.
As usual, lead sponsor Etisalat was on hand to ease the tension and entertain the hopefuls. There was a full blown concert headlined by young and vibrant artistes such as Chuddy K, MayD, and Olamide.
Tiwa Medubi, the Project Manger who expressed much excitement about the show that will officially kick off in December spoke with optimism that from Nigerian Idol’s stables, an artiste who will be internationally acclaimed will arise.
Hosted by on-air personality; Ill Rymz, the judges for this season are; African-American dancer, singer and former Michael Jackson’s choreographer Jeffrey Daniels, veteran singer, Yinka Davies and Afro-beat legend, Femi Kuti.
This season’s prize is valued at $100,000 and the elements are thus; N7.5 million cash, a recording contract worth N7.5million and an SUV.
