Former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori has pleaded guilty to 10 counts bordering on money laundering in his London trial.
THEWILL had exclusively reported earlier today that Ibori would plead guilty.
The prosecution had tried to block Ibori’s plea move arguing that it wanted to go ahead with the trial but Judge Pitts ruled that out.
THEWILL had earlier reported that there was no plea deal agreement between Ibori and the Crown Prosecution Service after negotiations fell through days ago.
Chief Ibori pleaded guilty to 7 indictments (1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 10, and 11) in Trial One, and 3 indictments (1, 2 and 3) in Trial Two; the V-Mobile matter.
Judge Pitts thereafter adjourned to April 16 and 17 for Chief Ibori’s sentencing, while the confiscation hearing will be in August.
