International Journalist Zain Verjee To Attend 2nd Women In Journalism Conference Holding In Lagos

Zain-Verjee All is set for the 2nd edition Women in Journalism Conference (WiJ2015), the yearly global gathering of women journalists and media professionals, scheduled to hold at the Muson Centre in Lagos on Thursday July 2, 2015.

Themed “Truth and Objectivity in the Digital Age,” the 2015 Conference boasts of a retinue of speakers and panelists, with the Keynote Speech to be delivered by international journalist and former CNN correspondent Ms Zain Verjee.

Leading the over 500 women journalists expected at the Conference are recipient of the IWMF Courage in Journalism Award and Winner of the CPJ Press Freedom Award, Senator Chris Anyanwu (MFR), power interviewer Kadaria Ahmed, ThisDay Editor, Ijeoma Nwogwugwu, Editor of the Sunday Sun Funke Egbemode and veteran journalist and trainer, Bimbo Oloyede.

Others are the Chairman of the Editorial Board of ThisDay, Olusegun Adeniyi, Writer and Founder of SabiNews, Toni Kan Onwordi, General Manager of Radio One, Funke Durodola, and President of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ify Omowole.

The Conference is hosted by the Publisher of TW, Adesuwa Onyenokwe.

With over 50 percent of people now accessing news content primarily through digital formats, the July 2 Conference will centre on the critical role of technology in the practice of journalism in the 21st Century, with wide-ranging discussions on the tools that enhance story telling in a digital generation while maintaining journalistic integrity. Sessions which provide guidance on the use of these tools shall be delivered by experts in the field, with technology partner Samsung, enabling the sessions in a practical way.
