Three months after founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos and author MacKenzie Bezos announced a divorce settlement, a Seattle-area judge on Friday finalized their divorce with a $38 billion settlement, making her the third richest woman, Bloomberg News reported.
According to the agreement, MacKenzie will receive approximately 19.7 million Amazon.com shares, equivalent to a four per cent stake in the company and valued at $38.3 billion, while Jeff Bezos will retain a 12 per cent stake and remain the world’s richest man.
The novelist, MacKenzie agreed to give all of her stake in the Washington post and the space exploration firm Blue Origin to Jeff, as well as voting control of her remaining Amazon stock, adding that she would donate half her fortune to charity.
Jeff Bezos and MacKenzie had been married for 25 years with four children, prior to the revelation by the National Enquirer that he had been having an affair with a former news anchor, Lauren Sanchez.
