An explosion in a gas plant located at Baruwa, a community in Ipaja area of Lagos has caused a fire outbreak early Thursday morning, leaving residents to scamper to safety.
According to SaharaReporters, the incident happened at about 6am. “It is a gas plant explosion and the fire extending to buildings around,” an eyewitness reportedly confirmed to the news outlet.
The Lagos State Police Command has since arrived at the scene of the accident. From videos and photos being circulated around, it appears a few lives were lost, many injured and loss of properties.
This comes about two weeks after a similar explosion in Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos left 40 people injured and buildings destroyed.
