Several people were injured on Sunday as the Kaduna Music Festival ended in violence.

Police fired teargas and shot into the air as some attendees engaged security operatives in a scuffle at the event organised by the Kaduna State Government.

According to Premium Times, the violence started as the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Shagali, gave his closing remarks.

Some youth jumped on the stage and threw sticks and bottles at the police. The motive of the youth is not yet clear.

The maiden edition of the Kaduna Music Festival will hold in Kaduna on Saturday and Sunday 13 December 2015.

The event, which held at the Ahmadu Bello stadium Kaduna featured Nigerian artists, including the Mavin’s Di’ja, Tuface and Adam Zango.
