Kickback: P-Square – Then & Now In Pictures

P-Square, made up of Peter and Paul Okoye started their early life in Jos, dancing and miming songs by MC Hammer, Bobby Brown and Michael Jackson under the name Smooth Criminal at their school, St. Murumba College in Jos.

They went on to form a group named MMPP with friends but the group disbanded when everyone had to go to university. P-Square was formed during their University days haven deliberated on different names.

They won the “Grab the Mic” competition in 2001 and Benson & Hedges sponsored their debut album, titled Last Nite, which was released under Timbuk2 music label. The album had such singles as “Last Nite,” “Senorita,” “Gbedu,” “Kolo” amongst others.

In 2005, P-Square released their “Get Squared” album which had songs like “Get Squared,” “Bizzy Body,” “Omoge Mi” amongst others.


This album was quickly followed up by the remix album with top notch videos (at the time) such as “Temptation” Featuring Alaye and “Bizzy Body” remix featuring Weird MC.

P-Square released “Danger” in 2009 and the Invasion album in 2011. In December 2011, they were signed to Akon&#39s Konvict Muzik label and in May 2012, they also signed a record distribution deal with Universal Music South Africa. They have quite a number of international collaborations to their credit including the remix of one of their hit tracks “Beautiful Oyinye” with Rick Ross and “Chop my Money” with Akon.
