Professional photographer and wife of singer Timi Dakolo, Busola Dakolo has been unveiled as the face of Lady Biba’s latest fashion campaign tagged “Lady in Power.”
According to the brand, “The year 2019 for us at Lady Biba started on such a powerful note. We had so much to give, so many ideas to birth and at the time our goals seemed very gigantic but with baby steps and determination, all came to fruition.
We began the year with the ‘’Own Your Story Campaign’’. A campaign inspired to feature women from different Industries, backgrounds and works of life, allowing them to share their stories; their successes, their failures, their trials and their triumphs. This for us was personal, as we are passionate about Women and have committed to the mission of boosting female confidence and mirroring their aspirations with the aim of showing every woman that she can be ANYTHING she wants to be.
To further boost this, we introduced The Woman Winning Wednesday series which featured women who have mastered their craft in their various fields and how they commenced their career journeys; and The Dress The Part Initiative, a campaign targeted at the Female Unemployed, New graduates and Low Income Earners to provide them with work outfits for interviews, whilst training and preparing them on CV writing, Interviews and How to navigate the corporate environment.
As the Year drew to a close, we released our newest collection, The Lady in Power Collection. For us, this was more than just another collection; It was a Statement, it was a message, and a strong one at that. This collection is dedicated to the power and strength of every women from diverse works of life who has gone through diverse difficulties, pain, abuse, whether personal, in health, at work, at the Home front or otherwise, and emerged VICTORS.”
It is with this motivation that the womenswear label, went “through and hard” for the perfect muse to help encapsulate the collection which ended up to be Busola Dakolo. The mother of three is being credited for owning her story, making her the perfect choice for the campaign.
The brand continues: “We salute her Strength, we salute her Bravery, we salute her Courage, We salute her Influence and most importantly we salute the Power and the Voice she has given to all women to Own Their Story.
So much more than a New Collection, The Lady In Power Campaign it is a worthy Cause and to this end, we have committed to giving 10% of revenue of sales of the Busola Dress in December 2019 to support the Stand to End Rape Cause.
Stand to End Rape Initiative (STER) is a youth-led organization achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Gender Equality – in Nigeria by providing psychosocial, legal and medical support to survivors and victims of sexual and gender-based violence; and working with our communities and national institutions to create programs and policies to prevent and respond to issues of sexual and gender-based violence in Nigeria.”
