The officials of Lagos State Vehicle Waste Basket (LAVWAB) on Wednesday September 16 were captured on camera reprimanding two men for using an unauthorized waste bin in their private vehicle.
The video which has since ignited outrage from many social media users was shared by media personality Yeni Kuti, after the task force officials accosted her partner Theo Lawson for carrying Ekiti state waste basket instead of Lagos’, the state where his was vehicle registered.
On officials added, when asked, that the price of the authorized basket was N3,500 and that they would need a clearance to be allowed usage. However, the clip has left Nigerians confused, with many asking of the legitimacy of the taskforce from the Lagos State Government.

Recall that the Lagos State Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) was looking to set up a taskforce to monitor compliance on the provision of waste baskets in commercial vehicles.
The chapter’s Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede, had disclosed the intervention in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Agbede said the move was aimed at supporting the state government’s environmental sanitation policies.
