Celebrations to mark the 10th year Anniversary of Nigeria’s topmost Media platform, Megalectrics Limited, came to a climax on Friday the 1st of November, 2019, with the unveiling of an I.T laboratory, donated to Girls Secondary School, Lalupon, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Witnessing the selfless gesture after a brief meeting attended by important guests, government officials, teachers and pupils of the school, the press and staff of the media house, the Executive Chairman, Ikoyi – Obalende LCDA, Hon. Fuad Atanda lawal, spoke glowingly of Public Private Partnership.
“In the words of Robert Ingersoll; ‘we rise by lifting others’ and that’s what you’ve done here today. You’ve lifted these students, you’ve donated something to them, something that they are proud of, something that we are proud of. At the Ikoyi, Obalende LCDA, we are indeed very happy, because we know that the Government can’t do it all by itself”.
In her remarks, Principal of Girls Secondary School, Lalupon, ikoyi, Mrs. Oluseun Omotoye, lauded Megalectrics’ commitment to the cause of Education.
“The future of the educational system is practically determined by the development of information and communication technology; hence the donation of these computer systems will surely bring positive changes on the students.
On behalf of the entire members of staff and the students of our great school, I hereby express our gratitude for your remarkable donation, your commitment to the cause of education and growth of technology. The school management is promising you optimum and efficient utilization of these computers”.
Also representing Hon. Folasade Omobola, the Hon. Commissioner of Education, Lagos State; was the (Permanent Secretary, Education District 3), Dr. Mrs. Olufolayinka Ayodele, who proudly noted that education for women “bridges Gender disparity.”
Earlier while speaking with the press, Managing Director at Megalectrics limited, Mr Chris Ubosi, had recalled that the organization’s values, include women empowerment.
“One of the six pillars of this administration’s manifesto is education and technology, both of which we apply in the course of our duty, our work here. The whole world is going digital. And also, you will recall that we supported (NGOs) WARIF, which looks after women (troubled women); we also supported BETHESDA.
So, it’s not a coincidence that we chose a girl school. His Excellency has also said in one of his speeches that empowering women is key to the development of society, and there is no better thing to do that to empower these girls from a young age, which they are now in secondary school. Like I said, we provided them with internet, Ups’s, air conditioning, soundproofing, furniture, flat-screen computers, basically the kind of enabling tools that you’ll find anywhere in the world”.
The broadcast conglomerate had commenced its Anniversary celebrations at the weekend of 26th October, 2019, with a significant Charity Walk for child education and violence against women, alongside partners; Bethesda Child Support Agency and Women at Risk International Foundation (WARIF).
For the last ten years, Megalectrics limited with its radio stations in Lagos, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, FCT and also in London, have in a decade made massive impact in the Nigerian broadcast industry through quality music promotion, health education, political discourse and Sports entertainment amongst others.
