It is common knowledge that the Nigerian music industry has grown in leaps and bounds within the last decade with awards, endorsements, international collaborations and all the big cash coming in but perhaps the biggest indication of this growth is the growing acceptance of the incursion of females into the industry.
This weekend, we bring you the best of Nigeria’s songstress’ tracks released in the year 2013, a mixture of pop, soul and RnB.
Have a great weekend!
Chidinma – Emini Baller Featuring Wizkid
Everybody loves Chidinma and the reasons are not far-fetched. Since warming her way into our hearts en route winning the MTN Project Fame contest, the singer has done everything right and recruiting Wizkid to remix her already hit single, Emini Baller was another right decision, as this song is definitely one of the hottest song in released by anybody in the country this year and is sure to remain so.
Tiwa Savage – Eminado Featuring Don Jazzy
Tiwa is Nigeria’s highest profile female act and she proved why she hasd that reputation when she dropped her highly-anticipated debut album, Once Upon A Time in the course of the year. Eminado (good luck charm) featuring Don Jazzy is everything you desire in a pop hit.
Pryse – Eleto
Chocolate City’s Pryse got her music career to a strong debut when she dropped one of the most talked-about singles of the year, Eleto. Pryse is still cutting her teeth in the Nigerian music scene and consistently dropping songs like Eleto would catapult her to the top sooner rather than later.
Temi Dollface – Pata Pata
Another act still cutting her teeth on the music scene, Temi Dollface came into the Nigerian music industry with a sure winning formula – a uniquely distinctively brand, with her peculiar mode of dressing. With Pata Pata, Temi shows that she is uniquely talented musically too.
Waje – Omini Knowest
This is a refreshingly different song and is one of the greatest, most interesting most lyrically mature, most…okay I’m running out of superlatives but that’s just how nice the track is. Classic!
