OB Crush Of The Week- Falz!

falzthebahdguy-1535368819176When you hear Falzthebadguy, then you should know you are up for some creativity spiced  with a great deal of humour.

Today we are irresistibly crushing on the bad guy, falzthebadguy AKA Folarin Falana.


He attended St Leos Catholic Primary School, Ikeja Lagos and Olashore International Secondary School, Osun State. After studying law at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom he moved back to Nigeria to attend law school and was called to bar in February 2012.

Falz is one of the three children of highly respected lawyer and activist Femi Falana

Folarin was the most shy out of the three of them. We are pleasantly surprised that he has become so wild. Sometimes, I listen to him and can’t believe that the quiet boy who sometimes will lock himself up in the room for about three days, has turned out like this”- Femi Falana.


Falz’ passion for music can be traced way back to secondary school where he met a friend of his who writes rap lyrics before they formed a little group The School Boys’.

After forming a little group ‘School Boys’ back in secondary school, he joined the choir in church and released a mixtape in 2009 which was a compilation of what he had been recording just to get his name out there and a little recognition. After that, he released about five singles.


In 2015, Falz was nominated in the “Best Collaboration of The Year” category at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards for his chart-topping single titled “Marry Me“. On the 31st, January 2015, he released a single titled “Ello Bae” which won him a nomination in the “Best Street Hop Artiste of The Year” category at The Headies Awards 2015.

Falz has won a couple of awards including “Best Actor in a Comedy Movie/Series” at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for his role as Segun in Funke Akindele’s TV series Jenifa’s Diary, he also won Viewer’s Choice Best New International Act category at the 2016 BET Awards amongst others.


In May 2018, Falz released the music video titled ‘This Is Nigeria‘  inspired by Childish Gambino‘s ‘This is America‘. It highlighted the ills in Nigeria including corruption and bribery. Although the song was banned recently, this humorous creative activist, Falz will stop at nothing to ensure, the truth of societal values is revealed and corrected.falzthebahdguy-1535368819176To this end, Falz has taken is show biz game to the next level, he currently anchors a weekly show  “On the couch” along side Laila johnson where he features aspiring presidential candidates for the 2019 general election. He has the likes featured Fela Durotoye, Donald Duke, Okeowo Olasunmbo. We look forward to more candidates on the show.
