2015 saw lot of Nigerian celebrities get hitched to the everlasting dismay of lots of single ladies and the delight of us all.
As some look to 2016 with plans of getting married, lets reminisce on the weddings that went down this year. Some were lavish, others low-key. We were shocked by a few while some were highly anticipated.

1. Dolapo Oni & Adegbite Sijuwade
If you call it the grandest wedding of 2015, you wouldn’t be off mark. Perhaps it is because the groom Gbite, is the son of late Ooni of Ife, or because Dolapo Oni is the much loved TV girl and host of the Macy Project. Their union saw number of top personalities, including dignitaries and politicians turn up.
2. Jibola Ajimobi & Ayokunle Ajayi
Destnation wedding … check.Celebrity wedding (she’s the daughter of Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi) … check. Grand… double check! Ajibola Ajimobi’s wedding to Ayokunle Ajayi was indeed the talk of the town. Her wedding gown, an Elle Saab said to be worth N23 million Naira set tongue wagging.
3. Governor Adams Oshiomole & Lara Fortes
Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomole set tongues wagging when wed the very beautiful Lara Fortes, a model from Cape Verde. Though it was Oshiomole’s second marriage, the wedding was the talk of the town with top dignitaries including President Buhari, Vice president Osinbajo, Femi Otedola, Dangote and many more in attendance.
4. Gbenro Ajibade & Osas Ighodaro
Tinsel actors, Gbenro Ajibade and Osas Ighodalo had a glamorous journey, which started in Benin and ended in New York with a number of a-list guests present.
5. Ubi Franklin & Lilian Esoro
Superlative is what best described this duo’s wedding as no expense was spared in putting together a memorable day. The groom is TripleMG record label boss while Lilian is an actress so we weren’t surprised by the huge turnout of celebrities.
6. Tosyn Bucknor & Aurelian Boyer
‘Area mama’ and Top radio OAP, Tosyn Bucknor’s wedding to French engineer beau, Aurelien Boyer will go down as one of the most interesting and downright fun weddings of 2015. The theme, the bride’s outfit, the guests, everything was beautiful.
7. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu & Cynthia Obianodo
Media personality Ebuka broke the hearts of many single ladies when he announced his engagement and subsequently got married to Cynthia Obianodo, his long time girlfriend and daughter of billionaire boss of Young Shall Grow motors.
8. Rolari Segun & Benedict Jacka
Yeni Kuti’s daughter and musical icon, Fela’s first grandchild wed her Austrailian sweetheart, Bendict Jacka. Not surprisingly one half of the ceremony (traditional wedding) was done at the New Afrika Shrine, while the white wedding was done in London.
9. DJ Xclusive & Tinuke Ogundero
Rotimi Alakija better known as DJ Xclusive got married to long time girlfriend, Tinuke Ogundero in a beautiful ceremony in Lagos. As expected EME stars, were there to show supports as well as other celebritites.
10. Ivie Okujaye & Ezie Egbo
The award-winning actress got married to her heartthrob in a unique wedding that got the town buzzing. Not because it was lavish, rather the bride’s style was one in town. For her traditional marriage, Ivie wore sneakers with the traditional wrapper. As if that wasn’t enough, her white wedding saw her dressed in a short, long-sleeved ballerina dress, which she paired with another pair of sneakers.
She topped off a fun ceremony with a break-dance where she did the split!
11. Tonto Dikeh & Churchill Oladunni
Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh’s hush hush traditional marriage to her beau, Oladunni Churchill caught a lot of people by surprise and was quite controversial because many didn’t believ Tonto would settle down and also because of rumors that she was pregnant. Though the wedding was done in secret, everybody soon started talking about it.
12. Omawumi Magbele & Tosin Yusuff
Singer, Omawumi also surprised many when she secretly wed her baby (ies) daddy, Tosin Yusuff. Though they tried to keep it quite, word still got out and many were thrilled, as her hubby had been a mystery to many.
13. Damilola Adegbite & Chris Attoh
Theirs was a lovely Valentines Day union in Ghana. The ‘Tinsel’ actors are still planning a Nigerian version, let wait and see how that goes.
