Hello Style Revolutionists! We are back with another edition of Designer Focus (#OBDesignerFocus).

The fashion game in Nigeria has really come a long way. Fashion designers in Nigeria continue to push boundaries and release spectacular collections for public consumption each year. From the mainstream traditional clothing to western like wears, the Nigerian fashion industry is now one of the fastest growing industries in the world.

Last week our spotlight was on talented Nigerian Designer Sandra Tubobereni.

Today, we shine the spotlight on Ogugua Okonkwo, the creative director and founder of Style Temple, Abuja’s most prestigious and popular fashion brand.

OG as she is fondly called grew up as part of a small family of five made up of she, her two siblings and her parents, who highly influenced her.

She graduated from the University of Nigeria Nsukka in the year 2008 with a BSC degree in medical laboratory science and also succeeded in bagging a certificate in fashion merchandising.

Fashion started for her at a very young age. Her brand was launched in the year 2011 but made it to the spotlight in the year 2015 after she clothed the former director-general of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Arunma Oteh, on her 50th birthday.

OG has always expressed her love for the bridal aspect of her job as a fashion designing saying in several interviews that she gets joy from every satisfied bride who chose Style Temple with nothing but trust and hope that they would get the desired result.

Popular On-Air personality, Stephanie Coker-Aderinokun, is one of these brides. Stephanie wore a custom-made Style Temple piece for her Mykonos wedding in 2017.

In September, the label announced its presence in Lagos when it presented its new collection; “IPSEITY” which was published in various fashion blogs and magazines in Nigeria. She later went on to leave a remarkable impression after she wowed the audience at the Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2016.

Style Temple also showcased at the 2017 Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week and is popular with top names like Stephanie Coker-Aderinokun, Idia Aisen, Mimi Onalaja, Bolanle Olukanni. This is definitely one brand that’s taking Nigeria to the next level in the fashion world and we can’t wait to see what this OG Okonkwo has in store.
