There have been numerous reports of unrests in several Lagos communities following rising cases of robbery attacks during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The affected neighbourhoods are reportedly Ajao Estate, Abule Egba, Iju, Agege, Alimosho and Alagbado. It was learnt that residents of the affected communities have since formed vigilance groups to contain the rampaging robbers.
The Punch gathered that some shops in the Jankara market in the Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area were also looted by the hoodlums. The attacks, according to sources, became prominent in the wake of the lockdown in the two states to curtail the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
Our correspondent also gathered that residents of Meiran and Agbado witnessed the presence of the hoodlums, who carted away prized items. Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, told our correspondent over the phone that arrest is being made in respect to the crime.
