Rev. Samson Olasupo Adeniyi Ayokunle, President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC) and candidate of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), on Tuesday was elected President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
Rev Ayokunledefeated Elder Joseph Otubu of the Motailatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Movement (MCCSW) who represented the Organisation of African Instituted Churches(OAIC) with 57 votes to 28, in an election conducted at the National Ecumenical Center, Abuja.
Outgoing president of the body, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, announced the results and declared Ayokunle his successor. Elder Joseph according to CAN constitution automatically becomes the Vice President.
