#SARSMustEnd: Femi Kuti Condemns Killing Of Peaceful #EndSARS Protesters
The rogue activities of officers of the now-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad has sparked outrage across Nigeria—and more celebrities are amplifying their support against police brutality and participating in the #EndSARS protests.
On Tuesday, music legend Femi Kuti joined other Nigerians in the ongoing protest and later on called for the police to refrain from shooting at peaceful demonstrators.
The protesters who have been calling for an end to SARS, reforms in the police among other things, have been met with violence with over 6 people dead since the protests’ inception.
The most disturbing attacks occurred on Monday in which more than two Surulere residents lost their lives, which led to a 35-seconds video shared on his social media platforms where the Afrobeat star voiced his condemnation of the acts being perpetuated.
Meanwhile, President Buhari has reacted to the outcry on the reform of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) promising to extensively reform the Force. The President declared that the disbanding of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is the first step to extensive police reforms by his administration.
