Omoyemi Akerele Takes Lagos Design & Fashion Week Talents To Pitti Immagine W Tradeshow In Florence, Italy
Recently, Lanre Dasilva Ajayi, Jewel by Lisa, Anita Quansah London, Bridget Awosika & Omar Asim were part of a cultural exchange between different countries at this year’s, Pitti Immagine W. The six African designers were selected by Omoyemi Akerele, a lawyer who moved into fashion and founded Style House Files, a point of reference for emerging talents in the African fashion panorama. Each designers showcased a capsule collection to an attentive audience of buyers and press. The tradeshow ran from the 19th– 22nd of June 2012.

Dolapo Marcy Oni Chosen As The Face of Fashion E-tailer Brand Nubians.com
Mnet’s 53 Xtra lead-anchor and Jacob’s Cross star, Dolapo Marcy Oni, has been signed as the face of the new online fashion retail store, www.BrandNubians.com. As the brand ambassador, she will appear in webisode commercials, radio ad spots and online advertising for the e-tailer set to launch in August. Africa Fashion Week London 2012: The First Lady Of Ekiti State, Her Excellency Chief Mrs. Erelu Bisi Fayemi Named Patron, Anita Quansah London, Adebayo Jones, George Adesegun & Brigitte Merki-Ibrahim To Showcase Plus GTB Announced As Official Partner
Africa Fashion Week London is proud to announce that Her Excellency, Chief Mrs. Erelu Bisi Fayemi, the First Lady of Ekiti State in Nigeria has pledged her support to AFWL as a patron. As well as lending her name to the event, Chief Mrs. Fayemi will also be attending the second edition of AFWL scheduled for 3-4 August 2012 at London Spitalfields.
Amongst the designers who will be showcasing at the closing show is the international designer of Ghanaian and Nigerian descent, Anita Quansah whose exquisite jewellery has recently been showcased at iROCK Tribes of Africa and graced the limbs of Alicia Keys on the cover of Vibe Magazine. Another stellar name in the closing line up is the “Nigerian King of Couture” Adebayo Jones whose breathtaking designs are set to dazzle the audience.

Ghana’s budding fashion design talent Brigitte Merki-Ibrahim and Nigeria’s fashion veteran George Adesegun are confirmed to take part in the Saturday evening gala show at Africa Fashion Week London 2012, joining Anita Quansah as well as Nigerian King of Couture Adebayo Jones who will be closing the gala show.
Guaranty Trust Bank, one of Africa’s largest financial services providers, is once again set to reinforce its position as a foremost African financial brand and a proudly African, truly international institution with its support of the biggest African fashion event out of Africa to take place in London in under a month.
The two-day event celebrates the work of African and African inspired designers in the UK. The annual event debuted in 2011 and welcomed 4,700 visitors. Created by Ronke Ademiluyi CEO, AFWL aims to be the single, biggest African event in the UK.

FashionMist’s showcased on one platform emerging young designers of African origin who reflect the continent’s creativity and the use of African textiles in their products to infuse it with a modern Western flair. This is in the form of clothes, accessories to name a few.

The show which recently took place in London showcased designs from -Adopted Culture, Ariike Alden, Chemphe Bea, Duafe Denim, GPUK, Harmattan by Ewuresi, House of Adjeiwaa, Kolture Apparel, N’kya Designs and Yaa Ataa Bags. Other designers who exhibited to the general included Ayikai Couture, African High Street, Afro Fusion Designs, Boutique de l’Afrique, Celebrity Hair, Decorus, GB GhanaBoy, House of Loulee, Kizemt, Lipavenu, Peachy Purr, Saphani and Ohenewa Textiles.
