Simi has tendered an apology to members of the LGBTQ community for several homophobic remarks which she during an episode of her Youtube show, “Stoopid Sessions“ that was centered around the topic of dating among millennials.
Recall that during the show which she had co-hosted Sess, Kiekie and Iyanuoluwa, she pointed out how children are at risk from online agenda that spreads the message that homosexuality is okay.
She said: “They say they’re born that way, but I haven’t seen any biological proof.” She further pointed out how religion makes homosexuality an uncomfortable thing for her to understand.
The episode, however, came as a shocker to the LGBT community and further drew backlash, with activist Bisi Alimi giving her a piece of his mind on social media. The singer has now taken to her Twitter to apologise for the comments. According to her, she carelessly addressed the issue which is a matter of life and death.
Stating that she had no intention to hurt, she revealed that she is in a learning phase, and though she understands discrimination as a woman, she doesn’t have a full grasp on the unique ways the LGBTQ community experiences it.
