Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama is opening up about her son’s cancer battle and how the diagnosis and the journey has been nothing short of a miracle.

Exactly three years ago, the Nollywood actress received the news that her only child with husband Captain Aaron Idhalama, had been diagnosed with cancer. She narrated how she had travelled to South Africa for singer Banky W and fellow actress Adesua Etomi’s wedding.

After helping Etomi fit her reception dress ahead of her wedding day, she said she was at the hotel lobby when she got a call about her son’s cancer diagnosis and had to immediately fly out of the country without attending the wedding.

Now Somkele who’s son is now cancer free, took to Instagram on Thursday to celebrate US’ Thanksgiving day, while opening up about her baby boy’s diagnosis in a post she tagged ‘Hallelujah Report’. According to her, they received the good news last week Monday.

She began, “It’s #Thanksgiving day today officially and as God would have it, it’s exactly 3 years today that I left the shores of 🇳🇬 on a journey I would never have been able to envision. When I won an award and said I had met The Greatest Scriptwriter in the world, I thought I knew some, I didn’t know a thing…”

She followed up with an emotional montage, writing in the caption, “The past 3 years have been nothing short of a miracle with miracle after miracle after miracle. On Monday last week, we got the amazing news, nearly 5 months earlier than predicted, that our baby is certified #CancerFree!

“Where do I start to thank every single person who knew and supported us along the way. @sickkidstoronto you have a special place in heaven, Dr. Summit Gupta and your entire oncology team!! I’m holding back tears that are overwhelming!! This video is only a spec of dust in explaining this journey. But what I will tell you is this, there is a living God. Period!

“Let me give you perspective Nov.1-20th I did the #HallelujahChallenge with @nathanielblow and fasted the whole way. Day 21 I landed in SA, Day 22 I received news that our son was diagnosed with an acute childhood cancer. Day 23 I was back in Nigeria and the rest I summarized in the video.

“Your faith will be tested but fear not for He has overcome and so will you and I. So for those whose weddings and milestones and projects I had to miss or turn down, please forgive me by rejoicing with me today. “Come and join me sing Hallelujah, Jehovah Jireh has done me well”.
