Super Eagles Looses Spot, Drops Down In FIFA Rankings


On the 16th of August 2018, FIFA  released its August world rankings which revealed that, The Nigerian Super Eagles have dropped from 48 to 49 in the world and are currently seventh in Africa due to their losses at the World Cup.

They have 1410 points against the 618 points they had in the June rankings. Tunisia and Senegal top the African  rankings, with both  teams  occupying number 24 in the world.

CHAN 2018 hosts and champions, Morocco who were  41st  in the June rankings are   now 46th  in the world and fourth on the continent. DR Congo (37), who played a 1-1 draw with the Eagles in Port Harcourt in May, are third in Africa after they moved a spot on the rankings.

Russia, took the best movers award, moving 21 places to 49th. Croatia, who played in the final for the first time in the World Cup moved to fourth with 1643 points.  France on the other hand is number one in the world after winning the Russia 2018 World Cup.
