Nigerian- Scotland Based Design Brand Presents “The Papillon” Collection

 N K I L I, meaning ‘Seeing beautiful things’ is a women’s luxury shirt-making brand.

The brand focuses on bringing light to the traditionally neglected yet single most important garment in a wardrobe, the shirt. By highlighting the garment in its pure form, the progressive beauty and craft can be seen.

According to Tolani Nkili Onajide, Creative Director at NKILI, “The Papillon Collection takes influence from deconstructivist Architect Zaha Hadid. Her design style is characterised by ideas of fragmentation and manipulating ideas of a structure&#39s surface or skin, non-rectilinear shapes which serve to distort and dislocate some of the elements of architecture.

The collection expands the notion of what a shirt is meant to be by developing and overexaggerating the classic shirt pattern. The NKILI prints are unique to the brand and are a combination of tonal hand drawings with traditional silk-screen printing techniques on pure silk. Each piece goes on a journey, from design and print to production, nurtured by the highly skilled production team in Scotland”.

Tolani is a Nigerian based in Dundee, United Kingdom. She studied at The University Of Dundee School Of Architecture, Scotland. Her collections are produced in United Kingdom.
