Hoodlums in Edo State on Monday disrupted the peaceful #EndSARS protest staged by youths against police brutality and good governance.
This led to an invasion of the Nigerian Correctional Center, Benin custodial center in Benin City, where they have reportedly freed hundreds of inmates.
In circulating videos shared by eye-witnesses, the prisoners were seen escaping, scaling the prison wall fence along Sapele Road in the city.
Efforts from the prison’s armed guard quelled the riots while some prisoners who fled the center were caught, Business Day reports.
