Trump Threatens To Dispute Election Count At Supreme Court, Claims Premature ‘Victory’

President Donald Trump has claimed that he’s the winner of the US presidential election, despite the final results not yet being given, adding that he be heading to the Supreme Court to dispute the counting of votes.

Even though millions of legitimate votes were yet to be counted and a half-dozen battleground states were still not called, the incumbent US President on Wednesday described the vote counting as a “major fraud” in a speech at the White House.

He also disclosed that he will be heading to the Supreme Court. ““This is a fraud on the American public. This is an embarrassment to our country,” Trump said in an extraordinary speech from the ceremonial East Room of the White House.

“We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election. A very sad group of people is trying to disenfranchise [people who voted for me] and we won’t stand for this.

He added, “We were getting ready for a big celebration. We were winning everything, and all of a sudden it was just called off. We’ll be going to the U.S. Supreme Court, we want all voting  to stop.”

It is however unclear what Trump meant by “going to the Supreme Court,” given that the nation’s highest court is rarely the first judicial venue for a case, but rather it reviews lower court rulings.

The Republican, who according to initial results is in a neck-and-neck race with Democrat Joe Biden, has not won re-election as of now, and key swing states such as Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin remain too close to call.

Joe Biden on the other hand called for patience from the American people as counting in the US election might go on for days. The frontrunner said his campaign was “on track to win this election.”

“It’s not my place or Donald Trump’s place to decide the outcome of this election. That’s down to the American people,” Biden said at his campaign HQ in Delaware. There was also immediate backlash from Trump’s own Republican supporters.
