Tsemaye Binitie is one designer that has been making waves, just last week his pieces were featured in America’s VIBE magazine modeled by Grammy award winning singer Alicia Keys. The Autumn/Winter 2012 collection called ’28 Faubourg Saint Honore’ comes from the old address of couturier Alix Gres whose work served as reference while Tsemaye was developing the collection. This collection earlier in March this year was seen on the runway in Lagos at the Arise magazine fashion week.
According to Tsemaye, “This season the girl is a little darker and tougher and there’s a contrast between masculine and feminine, hard and soft, sheer and opaque, black and white, applying and cutting away”.
Tsemaye worked closely with a fabric developer in the US to create a one of a kind embellishment technique applying hand cut vinyl pieces; laser cutting and pleating details were also delicately used in creating the collection.
Fabrics ranging from Distressed Leather to Washed Silks, High Tech Stretch Twill, Silk Organza and Fur were used. Pieces came in White, Black, Nude and Purple colours only.
The collection translates internationally with the mixing of fabrics, textures and silhouettes, an approval to American Varsity sportswear.
We absolutely j’dore Faubourg Saint Honore!
Pieces from this collection will be available at the end of April on: www.thenandnowshop.com
