Nigeria’s Wizkid & Ghana’s Sarkodie Clench 2012 BET Awards For Best International Act

A lot happened at the 2012 BET Awards on Sunday night, D’Angelo performed live on TV for the first time in years; the late Whitney Houston was remembered with a show-stopping performance. The BET Awards live broadcast featured some of the biggest stars in the music world, including Jay-Z and Beyonce who won best female R&B artist, Nicki Minaj the recipient of the best female hip-hop artist award and Usher.




In the category of Best International Act, Nigeria superstar Whizkid tied with Ghana’s hit making artist Sarkodie making the African continent proud. Whizkid in his speech via video feed said, “I feel blessed and I am thankful to God for making all of this happens. Thank God for my EME fam, it’s a blessing to be part of an amazing team. Everyone I’ve worked with, everyone who has supported me in one way or the other, God bless you. To my fans who keep me going, thanks for the love. Thanks to my family for believing in me and letting me live my dreams. Special thanks to everyone at BET. I’m truly honored.”


Kanye West and Kim Kardashian did their best to keep the rumors swirling about their relationship, they both showed up wearing matching white outfits sat in the first row next to Jay-Z and Beyonce.





Kanye West then melted the stage with his super-sensual hit “Climax” amidst reports that he recently obtained a restraining order against an alleged stalker who claimed to be his wife.




Chris Brown performed and opened his set with a hologram but quickly emerged showing some skin while sporting metallic body paint. Brown won the best male R&B artist award and the AOL Fandemonium award.




Other performers and attendees included Brandy, Cissy Houston, Big Sean, Rick Ross and Jamie Foxx. Samuel L. Jackson hosted the ceremony.
